Member Conduct & Dismissal Procedure

We want St Margarets Badminton Club to be a welcoming, respectful and enjoyable place for everyone.

All members are expected to follow club rules and treat fellow players and organisers with courtesy and respect.

If a member repeatedly breaks club rules, behaves inappropriately or brings the club into disrepute, the following procedure will normally apply.

Stage 1 – Verbal Warning

The member will be spoken to privately and given a verbal warning explaining the concern and what needs to change.

The warning will then be confirmed in writing to provide a written record.

Stage 2 – Written Warning

If the issue continues or happens again, the member will receive a formal written warning, explaining the problem and the consequences of further incidents.

Stage 3 – Dismissal

If the behaviour continues following a written warning, the club may terminate the individual’s membership.

Before a final decision is made, the member will have an opportunity to respond to the concerns raised.

Any dismissal will be confirmed in writing, with an explanation of the reasons.

Serious Misconduct

In exceptional circumstances involving serious misconduct or a risk to members’ safety or welfare, the club may temporarily suspend a member or consider dismissal without following every warning stage. The member will still be given a fair opportunity to respond before a final decision, wherever reasonably possible.

Appeals

Members may appeal a dismissal by emailing info@stmaggs.co.uk within 14 calendar days of receiving the decision.

Where possible, the appeal will be reviewed by someone who was not involved in the original decision. The outcome will be communicated in writing.

All matters will be handled fairly, consistently and with respect for everyone involved.
