CHARITY

Each season the club supports a different cause, fundraising for a local or national charity through club socials. We raise awareness by displaying the chosen registered charity on our website, social media, and kit. If your charity would like to be considered, please send us an enquiry.

Friends of the Elderly, Wallington Care Centre

St. Margaret’s B.C. has voted to fundraise for Friends of the Elderly’s Wallington Care Centre in season 2025/26. This cause was chosen in honour of Sue Smith (1943-2025), our former treasurer and a club member for more than 40 years. Our target for this season is £3,000.

Friends of the Elderly provides care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for elderly people in financial difficulty. Sue was a beneficiary of Friends of the Elderly’s Wallington Care Centre in her final years.

Spires, London Homelessness Charity

St. Margaret’s B.C. voted to support Spires, a local homelessness charity in season 2024/25. A Euros sweepstake was our first fundraising event, followed by a club charity tournament, a sponsored 100k cycle ride, a charity quiz and a board games evening. The Charity Committee of Season 2024/25 were Daisy Williams, George O’Rourke, and Will Kocur, and helped the club raise £2,013.50 for Spires – a sum that benefitted the charity by £3,143.50 through some strategic fund matching!

Spires is a south London based charity that has been supporting homeless and disadvantaged people in our local communities for the past 30 years.
